Before his career in real estate, Derick spent 18 years overseas as an educator, living and working in Southeast Asia and Africa. That global experience gave him valuable insight into working with people from all walks of life—and strengthened his communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. Derick’s love for North Carolina runs deep. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys fishing, biking, swimming, and spending time at the beach with his wife, their three wonderful children, and their three dogs. His energy, warmth, and enthusiasm for the area make him a fantastic advocate for clients looking to call North Carolina home. I am a true southern farm girl … born in Wilmington, NC but raised with my brother and 3 sisters on a farm in Duplin County, NC. I graduated from St. Mary’s Jr. College and UNC-Chapel Hill in the 70s. My professional career began in Wake County, NC as a paralegal where I performed title searches and closed real estate transactions. Later, working with an international pharmaceutical company, I negotiated contracts with companies world-wide to effect the sharing of product for clinical trials. In 2010, I moved from Cary, NC to Holden Beach, NC to assist my aging parents. My parents were great examples of serving others and giving back to the community. In their final years, caring for them became a big part of my life and I now enjoy spending time with family and friends and supporting local community programs, such as the Christian Recovery Centers Inc. in Shallotte, NC. I am grateful to have had such a blessed journey thus far and look forward to the road ahead!
